Lumbar Spondylolisthesis

Lumbar spondylolisthesis is a condition where one of the bones in your lower back (called a vertebra) slips out of its normal position and moves forward over the bone below it. This usually happens in the lower part of your spine (the lumbar region), which supports most of your body’s weight.

The slipped vertebra can press on nearby nerves, causing symptoms like:

  • Pain in the lower back, which may get worse with standing, walking, or bending
  • Stiffness or tightness in the back
  • Leg pain, numbness, or tingling (if the nerves are affected)
  • Weakness in the legs or difficulty walking

This condition can be caused by aging, wear and tear on the spine, an injury, or sometimes a birth defect. Treatment options include physical therapy, medications to control pain, and, in some cases, surgery if the problem is severe or doesn’t improve with other treatments.
